FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is project management?

The internationally recognized Project Management Institute (PMI) defines project management (PM) as the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations from a project. Validus follows this definition as a set of guidelines for producing quality services to our clients.

Why use Validus Management to manage our project?

Validus Management is different from the norm because we don’t look at you like another job. We strive to establish a quality working relationship from the beginning that can only strengthen during the project process. See the next question for how Validus can be a better value than competitors.

What kind of owner groups does Validus usually work with?

Validus represents all types of clients ranging from single building owners to larger publicly traded real estate investment trusts (REITs). The level of quality and high value in the services provided to every owner group, no matter what their size, will always stay consistent.

What makes Validus different from other project management and consulting firms?

This starts with our contract to manage your project which is geared towards the client and not Validus. All of our contracted fees are set at the beginning of the project and we never leave until the project is fully complete no matter what the completion date. Validus uses a flat fee contract based on the size of the renovation. Other consulting companies use a percentage basis fees that they can run up if a project goes longer than expected. They also may terminate their services after a set date leaving an unfinished product.

What kind of training do Validus Project Managers have?

All Validus Project Managers have internationally recognized accreditations of ‘Project Management Professionals’ (PMP). This certification is only given out to proven and experienced Project Managers who are trained and tested in the theories of project management defined by PMI.

What guidelines does the ‘Contractor Database’ follow to establish a ‘Validus Approved Contractor’?

All contractors in our database have been personally interviewed by Validus staff to ensure the contractors are in good standings. Some of the guidelines that the contractors must pass and validate are intact licensing, insurance, background checks, liens and legal judgments against the company. If everything is in good standing with good references, the contractor can be deemed a ‘Validus Approved Contractor’. The contractor can then use their given stamp of approval.
